
Two eligible NFL Draft players signed to the Wild

It's a great day to be an Alaska Wild fan. Our roster is building strong and fast. Coach Lee and Coach Knighten are recruiting top notch players left and right. Most recently we'd like to introduce to our fans Steven Whitehead and Jamelle Juneau. Both are great athletes and were eligible for the NFL Draft.
Steven Whitehead is from Slidell, LA. He plays WR and KR standing 5'8" and weighing 173 lbs. He attended McNeese State University and started as a tailback in 2004. During that year he became the team's third leading rusher with 139 yards. Whitehead received the honors of being the team's offensive player of the year in 2005. He returned 19 punts with and average 13.4 yards, and ran back 15 kickoffs with and average 22.8 yards. In 2005 Steven was considered 12th in the nations for punt returns. He will be a great asset to this team as he was named Player of the Year in the Southland Conference in 2006. He is ranked nationally for kick returns, punt returns, receiving and all-purpose running. In 2006 Whitehead led McNeese State with 48 receptions for 609 yards, rushed for 156 yards and had an average 6.5 yards. On NFLDraftScout.com he ranked 130 out of 307 Wide Receiver's.
Jamelle Juneau, 6'2", 212 lbs already has Alaska in his name! Juneau is from Bunkie, LA and comes to us playing the position of SS and FS. He attended High School at Bunkie High and was considered a star athlete in football as well as basketball. He was named All-District and All-Central at QB and DB in football. He totaled 50 tackles, had 5 interceptions and 6 Pass Break Ups on defense. Juneau rushed for 600 yards with 8 TD's and completed 35 of 70 passes for 598 yards with 10 TD's. In 2004 Juneau was named fifth on the team in tackles with 46 solo. In 2005 his strength and skill kept growing with 63 tackles, 5.5 TFL's and three forced fumbles. on NFLDraftScout.com he ranked 74 out of 144 SS's.
With players like Jamelle and Steven we will have no problem winning games. They bring the level of talent our fans are looking for. We can't wait to get season started and play some football.
