Alaska Wild News Release
Your New Alaska Wild made Franchise history Saturday night by getting its first ever win on the road during a regular season game. The Wild beat an undefeated Grizzly team in Fairbanks 53-36 in Front of thousands of stunned Grizzly fans. With starting Quarterback Donald Carrie (DC) out for a previously scheduled wedding, back up Andrew Carcich was thrust into the hot seat. Carcich more than stepped up throwing for over 220 yards and 7 TD's. Carcich also ran the ball for 42 yards. Veteran Jamie Williamson came in to give Carcich a needed rest in the 4th quarter and promptly threw a 38 yard strike to a wide open Damien Henderson (D-Hen) in the end zone for 6 more. The Wild defense held the Grizzly's to minimal yardage with the exception of a few "give me" plays on which they scored while our offense pretty much had their way with the Grizzly defense averaging over 7 yards per play!
Coach Lee stated, "Tonight was a special night for this organization and the city of Anchorage. I want to thank all of the fans who made the trip up to Fairbanks and those that were back in Anchorage cheering us on. We're proud to be able to represent our city on a national stage and we'll continue to do it with pride." All in all it was a stellar performance by the guys and put the rest of the league on notice that this team is no push over!
With the team starting to gel and our next road game at Chicago (The Slaughter 0-2), The Wild could be 3-1 and a prime post-season contender when they return home for the April 1st game against the Fairbanks Grizzlies at the Sullivan Arena for 7:05pm kickoff.
