Chicago Slaughter News Release
Hoffman Estates, IL - The Chicago Slaughter (0-3) lost 27-26 to the Bloomington Extreme (2-1) in front of 4,562 fans at the Sears Centre Arena. The Slaughter pulled to within a point of the lead late in the fourth quarter, but missed an extra point to tie up the game. The Slaughter has now lost their first three games by a combined eight points. Newly acquired QB Randy Hutchison paced the team going 27-37 for 174 yards and three touchdowns. WR De'Cody Fagg finished the day with 10 catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored twice on a four-yard touchdown catch and a 1-yard carry.
The Slaughter rebounded from an early 13-point deficit to take a 14-13 halftime lead. Hutchison threw touchdown passes to WRs Fagg and Brandon Beal to put the team on top after 30 minutes.
"It was frustrating for our guys not to get the win, but I think we've established a good base to build on," said Hutchison after the game. "The coaches did a good job but in the first half, we just weren't playing up to speed. Our timing was much better in the second half and that's what we hope to expand."
"When you lose by less than one score, you realize that every play, every mistake counts," said Slaughter Head Coach Steve McMichael."That's what we are going to be working on this week. I see the glass as half full. I've told our guys that they can't let themselves get blue. They've got to come back to practice, work hard, refine some things and that should turn this around."
The next home game for the Slaughter will be next Saturday, March 27th, at the Sears Centre Arena against the Alaska Wild. Kickoff will be at 7:05.
