March 27, 2010 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Alaska Wild News Release
The Alaska Wild almost achieved their second straight road win in 2 weeks against the Chicago Slaughter. Up against 4000 screaming Slaughter fans, the Wild overcame a 27-6 deficit to take the lead 33-27 to only surrender the lead in the final seconds. The Wild trailed 27-6 in the second quarter but a touchdown run by Andrew Carcich late in the first half made the score 27-14. Carcich again showed that he can play in this league throwing 3 touchdown passes and running for another. On the opening kickoff in the second half Steven Whitehead returned the ball to the Slaughter 5. After a penalty moved the ball back to the 15, Carcich threw a 15 yard strike to Damien Henderson to make it 27-20. On the next drive the Slaughter missed a field goal and the Wild made them pay for it as Carcich hit Kendrick Perry for a 17 yard pass for a touchdown to make it 27-27. Again the Wild defense held which led to a Perry 15 yard touchdown run to give the Wild a 33-27 lead. The Wild scored 27 unanswered points. The Slaughter were led by Jarrod Payton, Walter Payton's son as he scored 2 rushing touchdowns the second giving the Slaughter a 34-33 lead. With less than 13 seconds left the wild had another opportunity but Carcich was sacked as time expired, The Wild 2-2 will take on the Fairbanks Grizzlies 3-1 this Thursday April 1st at Sullivan Arena 7:05pm kickoff.
