The first three overtime matches were in December and included a 7-6 loss to the Dallas Sidekicks (12/27), a 7-6 loss to Kansas City on (12/13) and a 9-8 victory over Milwaukee on (12/6). Baltimore played in back-to-back overtime games on January 23 and 24 with a 5-4 win over the Monterrey Fury (1/23) and a 7-6 loss to the Dallas Sidekicks the following night (1/24). The sixth overtime game of the season was a 6-5 loss in Monterrey (3/21). The Blast went 2-4 this season in overtime games.

Eight of Baltimore's 33 overtime games have been played against Milwaukee, with the Blast winning the overtime series, 5-3. The Blast is 0-4 in overtime against the Philadelphia KiXX and the team has played in just one double overtime game, an 11-10 loss to the Wichita Wings (2/7/97).

Baltimore... Home of the Champions... Again!: For the second year season in a row, the Blast opened the season with the added pressure of defending their MISL title. The Blast went 25-11 last season en route to a postseason victory over the Dallas Sidekicks and a three-game sweep of the Milwaukee Wave in the MISL Championship Series. The Blast defeated the Wave, 12-3, 8-4 and 6-2 to win the Championship.

The Championship was Baltimore's second in two years and third in 25 seasons if indoor soccer in Baltimore.
