Chicago Storm Goes Home-And-Home With Cleveland This Week

Chicago (Monday, November 1, 2004) – The expansion Chicago Storm (1-1) of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will return home to the UIC Pavilion when they take on the Cleveland Force (0-1) on Wednesday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. The game can be heard live on www.chicagostorm.net. The "Yellow and Black" recorded their first every win in Storm history last Friday night as the team crashed the Milwaukee Wave's home opener with a thrilling 9-8 overtime win.

Triple the Fun: Jorge Valle of the Chicago Storm was selected as Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL). Valle scored three goals to help lead the Storm to a 9-8 overtime win over the Milwaukee Wave at Milwaukee's U.S. Cellular Arena on Oct. 29, as the Storm improved to 1-1 in the Central Division. With the Storm trailing 7-5 late in the third quarter, the 25-year-old forward had two crucial back-to-back goals to tie the game 7-7 and help the "Yellow and Black" to their first win in history. This was also the very first hat trick ever recorded by a Storm player. Before joining the Storm, the Mexican forward played two seasons with Dorados Culiacan of the Mexican Second Division, where he helped the team earn promotion to the First Division. Valle is a product of the highly-respected Atlas youth program and has appeared for the senior squad in the Mexican First Division.

Surprise Ending: Newly signed Storm defender/midfielder Ryan Futagaki scored the game-winning goal last Friday in overtime to give the Storm a 9-8 win over the Milwaukee Wave at the U.S. Cellular Arena. Futagaki signed a contract with the Storm earlier that day as an injury replacement for captain Ted Chronopoulos, who was placed on the disabled list. The former Chicago Fire defender/midfielder found himself on the end of a pass from Byron Alvarez and his shot scooted past the goal line and Wave goalkeeper Dan Green to give the Storm their first victory ever.

On the Road Again: After Wednesday night's game against Cleveland, the Storm will take to the road for three straight games, starting with Saturday, November 6 when they will square off against Cleveland at the Convocation Center at 3:05 CT. The following weekend, the "Yellow and Black" will travel to the east coast, starting in Baltimore on Saturday, November 13 when the Storm will face the defending champion Blast at 6:35 p.m. CT. On Sunday, November 15, the Storm head north to Philadelphia to tangle with the KiXX for an afternoon match starting at 12:05 p.m. CT at the Wachovia Spectrum. The Storm will return to Chicago for a November 26th date with the Milwaukee Wave at 7:30 p.m. CT at the UIC Pavilion.

Chicago Storm season ticket packages are priced at $190, $240, $340 and $400. Packages include an inaugural team autographed soccer ball, discounted parking, exclusive pre-season practice with the team, a mid-season autograph session with the team, ticket redemption for unused tickets, 20% discount on merchandise through the Storm, the first opportunity to purchase playoff tickets, and much more. Lucky Number 7: When the Storm and Force squared off against each other during an exhibition weekend on October 10, seven players from Storm scored a goal and helped the "Yellow and Black" to an 8-6 win. This victory over the Force completed a three game sweep for the Storm, after they defeated the Kansas City Comets and St. Louis Steamers earlier in the weekend at the Darien Sportsplex in Darien, Ill.

Storm Shots

Storm defender/midfielder Leo Pernia recorded his second goal of the season at 6:09 of the second quarter last weekend at Milwaukee. Pernia is one of two players who have scored a goal in both of the Storm's games.

Forward Byron Alvarez scored on the first penalty kick in Storm history at 11:44 of the second quarter last weekend at Milwaukee. Alvarez, along with Leo Pernia are the only players to score in the Storm's first two games.

Midfielder Sandre Naumoski recorded his first Storm goal at 8:08 of the second quarter last weekend at Milwaukee. The goal marks Naumoski's 10th of his MISL career.

Defender Lazo Alavanja recorded his first career MISL goal last weekend with a long range shot past Milwaukee's Dan Green.

Forward Chris Carrieri scored his first MISL goal with only 10 seconds remaining in the game last weekend at Milwaukee to send the contest into overtime. The highlight-reel bicycle kick goal shocked the crowd at the U.S. Cellular Arena and helped the team to a thrilling 9-8 overtime win. Carrier also added his second assist of the season on a goal by Leo Pernia.

Defender Jonah Long recorded three blocks in last weekend's win over the Milwaukee Wave.
