Balanced Attack Leads Energy Past Maine 100-88

PORTLAND, ME, Mar. 14, 2010 - All five Iowa Energy starters scored in double digits as the Energy (32-11) defeated the Maine Red Claws 100-88 Sunday afternoon. The win extends Iowa's lead in the Eastern Conference to 6.0 games over the second place Sioux Falls Skyforce and 6.5 games over third place Maine.

The Energy, who entered the game with five losses in their last six games, jumped out to a 36-24 lead after the first quarter as Jeff Trepagnier, Cartier Martin and Pat Carroll combined for 28 points in the quarter. The three Energy starters managed only 8 combined points in the entire game during their loss to Main two days earlier.

The Red Claws, who were 2-0 on the year against Iowa, cut the lead to one point late in the first half, but Iowa extended their lead to 11 points in the third quarter and coasted to the victory.

Iowa's Curtis Stinson scored 20 points before fouling out late in the game. Martin (19 points), Carroll (19), Trepagnier (16) and Earl Barron (14) all reached double figures in the victory.

Maine was led by Morris Almond's 29 points. The loss drops the Red Claws to 24-16 on the year and moves them 0.5 games behind Sioux Falls in the race for second place in the Eastern Conference.
