Red Claws Fall To Iowa, 100-88

PORTLAND, ME - Five different players scored in double-figures for the Iowa Energy (32-11) in their 100-88 win over the Red Claws (24-16) at the Portland Expo Building.

Earl Barron posted a double-double for Iowa scoring 14 points while pulling down a game-high 16 rebounds. Curtis Stinson led the Energy in scoring with 20 points to go with six assists while teammates Pat Carroll and Cartier Martin both scored 19.

After being down by as much as 15 points in the final minute of the first quarter, Maine was able to trim the deficit to just three by the break (55-52), but Iowa was able to slowly pull away throughout the third quarter to hold off the home team. Maine was able to pull to within six points of the Energy (92-86) with just under three minutes remaining in the game, but the top team in the NBA D-League was able to close out the game on an 8-2 run.

Morris Almond led all scorers with 29 points for Maine while teammate Russell Robinson scored 15 points to go with six assists. The Red Claws shot 56.5% from the stripe making just 13 of their 23 attempts in the loss.

With the loss, the Red Claws fall to third in the East Conference, a half game behind the Sioux Falls Skyforce and 6.5 games behind the conference and league-leading Energy.

The Red Claws will travel to Fort Wayne to take on the Mad Ants on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM before returning home Wednesday night for the first of two against Albuquerque. Iowa will head home to host Dakota on Wednesday.
