Hudson Leads Wizards Over Toros

March 14, 2010 - NBA G League (G League)
Dakota Wizards News Release

BISMARCK, ND, March 14, 2010 - It definitely wasn't pretty, but with the goal of locking up a playoff spot, the Dakota Wizards will take a win any way they can get it. Sunday afternoon's contest saw Dakota and Austin combine for 46 turnovers, but by limiting the Toros to 34.2% percent shooting from the field, the Wizards were able to pull away with an easy 91-73 victory.

Austin was only able to put 28 points on the scoreboard at halftime and found themselves in a huge 15 point hole at the break. The Toros shot 10-of-35 from the field and were outrebounded 27-18 in the first half. Lester Hudson came off of the bench for Dakota to score 10 points heading into the break while Austin's Curtis Jerrells chipped in ten of his own in the first half.

The Toros were able to close the gap to ten points on two separate occasions in the third quarter, but that was as close as they would come in the contest. Dakota used a 20-7 run highlighted by a Marcus Dove dunk to push the lead to 23 points with 5:40 remaining in the game. Despite Austin's better shooting performance and effort on the glass in the second half, the Wizards were able to easily cruise to the 18-point win. Dakota now boasts an impressive 19-3 record at the Bismarck Civic Center on the season..

Hudson led the Wizards in both points (18) and rebounds (9) on the afternoon. Romel Beck also contributed 13 points for Dakota. Austin's Dwayne Jones had a monster game, scoring 18 points and pulling down 19 rebounds. Eddie Basden also had 17 points for the Toros in the losing effort.

These same two teams will meet again tomorrow night. Tipoff is at 7:00pm.
