Bakersfield Sends Pair of Oilers' Draft Selections to Admirals

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has assigned defenseman Ben Betker and center Greg Chase to the Norfolk Admirals of the ECHL.

Betker, 21, makes his way into professional hockey on the heels of a three-year stint in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Everett Silvertips. A 6-foot-6 and 220-pound blueliner from Cranbrook, British Columbia, Betker turned in 14 goals and 44 career assists for 58 total points over 201 contests. Edmonton's sixth-round pick in 2013 also recorded 265 minutes in the penalty box at the major junior level.

Chase, 20, made his professional debut during the 2013-14 AHL season with Oklahoma City in which he scored once in five games. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native posted an assist in four playoff games with the Barons last year after a five-year career in the WHL with Calgary and Victoria. A seventh-round draft choice of Edmonton's in 2013, the 6-foot, 188 pounder went on to make 265 career appearances in the WHL, logging 78 goals, 143 assists, and 221 total points.
