Bakersfield Jam News Release

(Bakersfield, Calif. - January 20, 2010) - The Bakersfield Jam is excited to announce the acquisition of guard/forward Patrick Mutombo from the available player pool early Wednesday afternoon.

The 6'6", 210-lb guard/forward played for Voigt at Metropolitan State College in Denver, and after three years in Italy's top division played last season for Trikala 2000 of the Greek A1 league (3.9 points, 1.8 rebounds in 12 minutes per game).

"I had the opportunity to coach Patrick as a college player, and I'm looking forward to bringing him into our team," Voigt said. "He exemplifies the work ethic and professionalism that we want from our guys, and I think he'll be a great influence on the group."

Mutombo will fill the roster spot vacated by Jam forward Amara Sy, who has left the team. After missing the start of the season with a wrist injury he had been a standout performer for the Jam, averaging 15.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 16 games (15 starts) for Bakersfield.

"Amara showed a great attitude and work ethic during his time in Bakersfield," said Will Voigt, Bakersfield's head coach. "I wish him the best with his new team."

Mutombo is expected to be in uniform and ready to play for Bakersfield's Wednesday night game in Albuquerque.
