Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

BRADENTON, Fla. - Akil Baddoo lined a home run over the right field fence to lead off the sixth inning and it proved to be the game winner in a 2-1 victory for the Miracle over Bradenton on Tuesday night at LECOM Park.

It was the third homer of the season for Baddoo, who now leads the club. Fort Myers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back two-out doubles by Trevor Larnach and Jose Miranda. It was the second straight game for Miranda with an RBI double.

Bradenton tied the game in the second inning on a bloop RBI single to right by Michael Gretler. That ended a scoreless inning streak of 15 for Miracle starter Bryan Sammons. It was also the first earned run the left-hander has allowed this season.

Sammons (3-0) went 5.1 innings and surrendered three hits. He walked three and struck out four. His ERA rose from 0.00 to 0.42 through four starts.

Calvin Faucher took over on the mound for Fort Myers and tossed 2.1 scoreless innings. He walked one and struck out two. Tom Hackimer earned a four-out save, his first of the season. All four outs he recorded were strikeouts. After walking the leadoff batter in the bottom of the ninth, he responded by fanning the next three.

Bradenton starter Max Kranick (0-2) suffered the loss. He went six innings and allowed two runs on four hits. He struck out five and did not walk a batter.

The Miracle out-hit Bradenton in the game, 5-3. Michael Helman saw his seven-game hitting streak come to an end, but did reach base with a walk in his final plate appearance. Fort Myers is now 7-3 on the road this season and 12-7 overall.

The Miracle will go for the sweep of the three-game series on Wednesday night at LECOM Park. Right-hander Jhoan Duran will start for Fort Myers. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
