Brandon, MB. -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that David, Rachel Hill and family of Sprucewoods have been chosen this year's winner of The Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest.

The Hills were chosen Monday from a long list of entries received at BDO Fan Services (during Wheat Kings' home games or online at www.wheatkings.com).

For winning, members of the Wheat Kings will be visiting the Hills' backyard rink next week.

In addition to having the opportunity to meet members of the WHL team in a backyard game of shinny, the Hills will receive treats and prizes from The Home Depot.

The Hills have four children - Emily, Laura, Michell and 9-year old Mark, who currently skates with the Shilo Atom Sentinels.

David, whose family moved to Shilo last summer, has been building backyard rinks for the past decade. Before Sprucewoods, he built in both Winnipeg and Edmonton.

This year's version, which is considerably larger than the rink that he'd built last winter, was constructed in November.

Meanwhile in other news, the Wheat Kings close out a 4-game homestand Wednesday night - Rain Check Night - against the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Wheat Kings have collected five of a possible six points through the first three games.

Wednesday is also FIDO PUCKS 'n PETS NIGHT, in support of the Brandon Humane Society.

Tickets to all remaining home games are now on sale at the Keystone Centre box office, by calling 726-3555 or online at keystonecentre.com.
