Baltimore Blast News Release

Baltimore – As per the Major Indoor Soccer League's change from a nine-team league to a seven-team league, the remainder of the Baltimore Blast's schedule has undergone several changes. The 2003 and 2004 MISL Champions will still play 12 more home games this season at 1st Mariner Arena, though the opponent for three of those games has been changed. Three of the team's road games have been cancelled and two road games have been added to the schedule. The Blast will play this Friday and Saturday night at home against the Kansas City Comets and Milwaukee Wave, respectively.

These schedule changes have not resulted in any changes to the originally announced Blast home game dates. The first change to the remaining 2004-05 schedule will take place this Saturday night when the Milwaukee Wave travel to Baltimore in place of the now-defunct Monterrey Tigres. After this weekend, only two other home game opponents are different than the original schedule released in September: the Blast will host the St. Louis Steamers on February 5 and the Kansas City Comets on February 18.

Road changes include the cancellation of matches on January 14, February 26 and March 20 and the addition of a game in Milwaukee on February 13 and a game in Cleveland on April 8. The Blast will travel to Chicago on February 27 instead of to Monterrey.

Due to the schedule changes, the Blast will now play six games against the Milwaukee Wave and five games each against the Chicago Storm, St. Louis Steamers and Kansas City Comets. Baltimore will still play the Philadelphia KiXX and Cleveland Force eight times this season. According to the revised schedule, the Blast will play 39 total games this season, 20 at 1st Mariner Arena and 19 on the road.

Previously planned promotional and give-away nights for the remaining home Blast games will not change. Soccer ball night is still scheduled for January 21 and bubblehead night will remain April 1. The team also will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout nights and a free post-game concert featuring the popular Christian performer, the David Crowder Band. In addition, on February 19, the Blast will host a "Celebration of 25 Seasons" night to celebrate the franchise's 25 seasons in Baltimore. The team will welcome former players back to Baltimore and will induct additional members into the Baltimore Blast Hall of Fame that night.
