Chicago Storm Schedule Changes Announced
January 4, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Chicago Storm News Release
Chicago (Tuesday, January 4, 2004) â The Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) released today its revised composite league schedule for the remainder of the 2004-05 regular season. As a result of the San Diego Sockers and Monterrey discontinuing operations for the balance of the season, the remaining home matches of the Sockers and Monterrey schedules for the 2004-05 season have been canceled. All other teams will play their 20 home matches as scheduled, with some minor adjustments. The 2004-05 MISL regular season runs for 28 weeks, concluding on April 24.
The Storm will travel to Cleveland to meet the Force on Friday, January 7 at 6:35 p.m. CT at the Convocation Center. The game can be heard live on www.chicagostorm.net. Other changes to the Storm's schedule include a January 21st match-up with Cleveland at the UIC Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. CT. The two-time defending MISL Champion Baltimore Blast will pay a visit to Chicago on February 27 at 3:00 p.m. CT. Chicago's scheduled visits to Monterrey on January 30 and April 24 have been canceled. The full Chicago Storm schedule can be found below.
The 2005 MISL Championship Series is scheduled to begin the weekend of April 29. The Championship Series consists of four teams. The MISL Regular Season Champion receives an automatic bid to postseason play and earns the No. 1 seed as determined by regular season win percentage. The other postseason spots are allotted to the three teams with the next best regular season win percentage, determining the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeds. Home field advantage is awarded to the higher seeded team.
As approved by the MISL Management Committee, the Semifinal Round will now be a two-game "home and home" series, with the No. 4 seed meeting the No. 1 seed and the No. 3 seed drawing the No. 2 seed. The higher seed reserves the right to choose home field for either Game One or Game Two. Should the semifinalists split the two game series, an overtime period with a "Golden Goal" will determine the series winner, which will advance to the MISL Championship Series Final.
The Championship Series Final pits the winners of the Semifinal Round in a best-of-three series to be played on the weekends spanning from May 6 â May 15, 2005. The higher seed will earn home field advantage for Games One and Three, while the lower seed will retain home field advantage for Game Two.
