Force announces revised schedule
January 4, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Cleveland Force News Release
CLEVELAND, OHIO-The Cleveland Force along with the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) today announced the revised 2004-05 season schedule as a result of the San Diego Sockers and Monterrey Tigres discontinuing operations for the balance of the season. In addition, all seven remaining teams will now operate under one division.
The 2005 MISL Championship Series is scheduled to begin the weekend of April 29. The Championship Series consists of four teams. The MISL Regular Season Champion receives an automatic bid to postseason play and earns the No. 1 seed as determined by regular season win percentage. The other postseason spots are allotted to the three teams with the next best regular season win percentage, determining the No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 seeds. Home field advantage is awarded to the higher seeded team.
As approved by the MISL Management Committee, the Semifinal Round will now be a two-game "home and home" series, with the No. 4 seed meeting the No. 1 seed and the No. 3 seed drawing the No. 2 seed. The higher seed reserves the right to choose home field for either Game One or Game Two. Should the semifinalists split their two-games, an overtime period with a "Golden Goal" will determine the series winner, which will advance to the MISL Championship Series Final.
The Championship Series Final pits the winners of the Semifinal Round in a best-of-three series to be played on the weekends spanning from May 6 - May 15, 2005. The higher seed will earn home field advantage for Games One and Three, while the lower seed will retain home field advantage for Game Two.
The Force will return to action with the next four games to be played at home with the first game slated for this Friday, January 7 when they will play host to the Chicago Storm at the Convocation Center at Cleveland State University. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:35 and is rally towel night. The first 2,000 fans will receive a rally towel courtesy of H2Cool.All tickets purchased for the four home games featuring the Monterrey Tigres or San Diego Sockers will be honored for the original dates scheduled.
