San Angelo Colts News Release
San Angelo, Texas---The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings watched a four run lead fade away Sunday night at Foster Field. Colts third baseman Davis Page hit a slow dribbler to short and was able to beat out a possible double play to put the Colts back on top in the North American South Division.
Wings third basemen Leivi Ventura (7) helped his team pick up right were they left off on Saturday night sending a two run shot over the fence in right field to give the Wings the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. RGV would plate another in the third and send a solo shot out by backstop Gabriel Ortiz (1) in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-0.
The Colts would respond with some offensive output of their own. Cory "General" Patton was able to reach home after being walked to start the bottom half of the fourth. As the fifth inning came to a close, Ronnie Gaines, Andrew Riddick, and General Patton all three were able to cross the plate bringing the contest to a 4-4 tie.
Each team was able to score in the seventh inning, and the score would remain tied 5-5. Catchers' interference allowed WhiteWings Francisco Santana to reach base and steal second base. Teammate Antonio DeJesus slapped a single into the Colts outfield scoring Santana from second. With bases loaded and nobody out in the bottom of the ninth, Colts Danny Hernandez drove home the tying run. Paige then scurried down the first base line to beat out a double play and give the Colts the walk off win.
Francisco Cruceta (2-1, 1.39) earned the win while Edgar Martinez (1 -1 1.88) will take his first loss on the season.
