B-Sens Playoff And Tiebreaker Scenarios For Final Weekend
April 9, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL) News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators enter the final weekend of the American Hockey League's regular season tied with the Philadelphia Phantoms for the final playoff position in the East Division with 91 points. Both teams play two games (one home, one road) this weekend to close out their respective 80-game schedules.
Binghamton Senators game schedule for final weekend:
vs. Norfolk Admirals - Friday, Apr. 10
@ Albany River Rats - Saturday, Apr. 11
Philadelphia Phantoms game schedule for final weekend:
vs. Hershey Bears - Friday, Apr. 10
@ Hershey Bears - Saturday, Apr. 11
In the event that Binghamton and Philadelphia finish the season tied in points, the final East Division playoff team would be determined through a tiebreaker. The first two tiebreakers are as follows:
First tiebreaker Overall regular season wins
Second tiebreaker Season series points
Philadelphia enters the final weekend with one more win (42) than Binghamton (41). The Phantoms already own the second tiebreaker with 11 points in the season series to Binghamton's 8 points. The follow details playoff clinching scenarios for the final playoff position in the East Division.
If both teams go 2-0 in final two games, points are still tied and Philadelphia finishes with one more win.
If both teams go 1-1, points are still tied and Philadelphia has one more win.
If both teams go 0-2, points are still tied and Philadelphia has one more win.
If Binghamton goes 1-1 and Philadelphia loses twice in OT/SO, points are still tied and wins are tied, Philadelphia wins second tiebreaker for season series points.
In summation, Binghamton must finish ahead of Philadelphia in total points to clinch a playoff position.
2009-10 season tickets and 2009 Calder Cup playoff packages are on sale. Contact the Binghamton Senators' executive office at (607) 722-SENS for more information on these ticket packages.
