Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators defeated the Syracuse Crunch 4-3 in overtime on home ice with eight B-Sens players notching points. Ryan Dzingel led the offense with one goal and one assist while Eric O'Dell picked up two assists.
Mike Angelidis opened the scoring 6:46 into the first period when he snuck a wrist shot past Scott Greenham for his fourth goal of the year. With less than three minutes to play in the period, the B-Sens evened the score 1-1 when Matt Puempel took a centering feed from Dzingel and beat Kristers Gudlevskis for his 13th marker of the year. The teams skated to the first intermission tied 1-1 with Binghamton holding the 14-10 edge in shots on goal.
The teams traded tallies over the second period with Syracuse regaining the lead 2:04 into the second off a goal from Tanner Richard. The B-Sens evened the score 2-2 on the power play 8:43 into the frame when Nick Paul sent a slap shot from the point that caught a Crunch defender before it snuck past Gudlevskis. Syracuse held a 15-10 advantage in shots on goal while the teams headed to the final break tied 2-2.
Binghamton grabbed their first lead of the night 12:16 into the final period of regulation when Buddy Robinson popped home a rebound off a shot from O'Dell. The host's lead didn't last long as Philippe Paradis redirected a shot past Greenham with less than five minutes to play to force overtime.
Following multiple breakaway attempts for each team to begin the 3-on-3 overtime period, Dzingel beat Gudlevskis off a great feed from O'Dell to give the B-Sens the win.
Greenham stopped 31 of 34 shots faced to earn his second straight win in as many starts while Gudlevskis surrendered four goals on 35 shots faced in the loss.
