Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, NY â The Binghamton Senators announced today that defenseman Brian Pothier has been returned to the club by the parent Ottawa Senators. Pothier's recall was cancelled with the return of Curtis Leschyshyn to the active roster.
Pothier, 25, appeared in two games during this recall, his second of the season, and recorded his first point (an assist) as a Senator last night in New Jersey (Feb. 19). In three games with Ottawa this season, Pothier is averaging 13:14 of ice-time per game and has one assist, three shots and a +2 rating.
With Binghamton this season, Pothier has recorded 35 points (6-29), 46 penalty minutes and a +5 rating in 54 games. Pothier's return comes at a key time as fellow defenseman Steve Bancroft suffered a knee injury in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Bancroft left the game late in the third period after colliding with the Penguins' Zenon Konopka. Bancroft is expected to miss at least four weeks. As a result, the Sens played with only five defensemen in Tuesday's 4-0 loss at Hamilton.
The Senators, now in second place in the East Division for the first time since January 12th, play just two games this weekend. Saturday, the club heads to Syracuse for a 7:30 faceoff against the Crunch. The Sens then return home Sunday, February 23rd, for a 5:05 draw against the East Division-leading Bridgeport Sound Tigers (NY Islanders). Tickets for this, and all remaining home games, are on sale now at all Tickemaster outlets, the Arena box office, the Center Ice Team Shop at Metrocenter, or by calling the Sens Hotline at 722-SENS (7367).
