NYSEG Stadium - Binghamton, NY - 1:05 PM

LAST GAMES: The Binghamton Mets split a doubleheader with the Portland Sea Dogs on Saturday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. In the opener, Matt Clarkscampered home with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a wild pitch by Portland starter Henry Owens to lead Binghamton to a 3-2 win. Darin Gorski allowed one run over six innings to collect his second victory. Chasen Bradford left the bases loaded and posted a scoreless seventh to earn his fifth save. In the nightcap, the Sea Dogs tagged Matt Bowman for a career-high nine runs and handed the B-Mets a 9-3 defeat. Brian Johnsonallowed two unearned runs over 5.1 innings to pick up the win in his Double-A debut.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Rainy Lara makes his fifth start of the season and first against the Sea Dogs. Lara took a no-decision in his last start against the Erie SeaWolves on April 27. The righty allowed six runs on eight hits over a season-low 3.2 innings. Lara walked two and struck out just one in a game the B-Mets won by a 9-6 final. Signed as a non-drafted free agent in October 2009, Lara He split last season between Savannah (Low-A) and St. Lucie (High-A) going 8-7 with a 2.85 ERA between both levels.

PORTLAND STARTER: RHP Mike McCarthy takes the hill for his fifth start of the season and second versus the B-Mets. The California native earned the win in his most recent start against the Reading Fightin Phils on April 28. The righty allowed just three hits over six shutout innings. He struck out two, issued no walks and faced just three over the minimum. McCarthy faced the B-Mets on April 22 at NYSEG Stadium and allowed three runs over 5.1 innings in a no-decision. McCarthy was selected by the Red Sox in the 14th round in 2011 out of Cal-State Bakersfield.

SPLITTING THREE TIMES: The Binghamton Mets have split all three doubleheaders in 2014 via the same pattern. They've won the opening game all three times and lost the nightcap.

STILL STREAKING: B-Mets middle infielder Wilfredo Tovar extended his hitting streak to eight games with a double in his final at-bat in the nightcap on Saturday afternoon. Tovar has hit .385 (10-for-26) during the stretch. It's Tovar's second eight-game hitting streak of the season. He has hit safely in 20 of his 22 games this season.

BACK TO HIS HITTING WAYS: After compiling a B-Mets season-best 14-game hitting streak, B-Mets infielder Matt Reynolds went hitless in 13 straight at-bats. Reynolds snapped out of the funk with an infield single in his final at-bat on Saturday afternoon. Reynolds is second on the team with a .337 batting average.

A SEASON OF STREAKS: The B-Mets dropped their first three meetings with the Portland Sea Dogs before rattling off three straight wins against the Double-A Red Sox. The season series sits at 4-3 in Portland's favor.

ENDING ON THE RIGHT NOTE: Excluding their one-game, rain-shortened series against the Sea Dogs in April, the B-Mets are 6-1 in series finales in 2014.

SERIES UP FOR GRABS: Having won the first two games of this four-game series, a win today would secure Binghamton's fifth series win of the year. The B-Mets have not won a series against the Portland Sea Dogs this season.

SUNDAY FUNDAY: The B-Mets have gone 3-0 on Sundays in 2014. The club has not lost on Sunday since they fell to the Akron Aero by a 6-2 score on August 25, 2013.

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets hit the road for a three-game visit to Manchester, New Hampshire to take on the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. RHP Tyler Pill takes the mound in the opener on Monday night at 6:35 PM. RHP Scott Copeland gets the ball for the Double-A Toronto Blue Jays.
