July 20, 2005 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

After tonight's Binghamton Mets game, the New York Mets called up lefthanded pitcher Evan MacLane to the B-Mets from High-A St. Lucie and gave outfielder Victor Hall his unconditional release.

MacLane joins Binghamton after going 8-5 with a 3.20 ERA in 19 starts with St. Lucie, departing fourth in the Florida State League with 112 1/3 innings pitched, striking out 92 and walking 15. The Quincy, CA native is 23-10 in his professional career, which is in its third season after he was selected by the Mets in the 25th round of the 2003 draft out of Feather River (CA) Community College. He will join Binghamton's starting rotation and make his debut Sunday at Bowie. The 22-year-old MacLane takes the starting spot of the injured Philip Humber. Humber, the Mets' first round pick in 2004, made one start with Binghamton before hurting his elbow, forcing him to miss the rest of the 2005 season. Humber underwent successful reconstructive elbow surgery Tuesday.

The 24-year-old Hall was hitting .207 with five home runs and 21 RBI in 64 games with Binghamton. The former Arizona Diamondbacks farmhand was in his eighth professional season and first with the New York Mets after signing with them as a minor league free agent this past off-season.

After an off-day Thursday, the Binghamton Mets embark on a seven-game road trip starting Friday at Bowie. After three-games against the Baysox, the B-Mets will head to Altoona for a four-game set against the Curve starting Monday before returning to NYSEG Stadium Friday, July 29th for a three-game series with the Akron Aeros.
