
Azurá Stevens and Courtney Vandersloot Set to Compete in 2022 WNBA All-Star Skills Challenge

CHICAGO - The Chicago Sky's Azurá Stevens and Courtney Vandersloot will participate in the 2022 WNBA Skills Challenge on Saturday, July 9 at McCormick Place in Chicago, the league announced today. They will compete in front of an audience of participants from the Nike Tournament of Champions and Nike Girls Nationals.
This will be Vandersloot's second time participating in the skills competition. Vandersloot is currently the Sky's leader in assists and ranks third on the WNBA's season leaders in assists, averaging 6.4 per game. She is also fourth on the WNBA's all-time assists list, tallying 2,320 throughout her career so far. She currently averages 11.3 points per game and shooting 48.0% from the field.
Stevens will be making her skills contest debut Saturday. The 6-foot-6 center averages 10.9 points per game, while shooting 46.7% from the field. She is just shy of being the Sky's leader in blocks this season with 1.0 bpg, behind Candace Parker at 1.1 bpg.
The Skills Challenge is one of the many events happening at WNBA Live during All-Star Weekend. It will feature a bracket-style competition and can be viewed on ESPN.
2022 WNBA All-Star Weekend kicks off Friday, July 8 with the Her Time to Play Clinic at McCormick Place at 4 p.m. CT. Girls from local youth community groups in the city will have the chance to learn basketball fundamentals while listening to some WNBA stars share experiences centered around obstacles female athletes face in society. The Orange Carpet will follow the clinic and can be viewed via social media.
WNBA Live begins Saturday and will include the Welcome Ceremony and Meet & Greet with the Sky followed by a Title IX discussion moderated by WNBA legend Taj McWilliams-Franklin. Fans can tune into the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest and WNBA Skills Challenge on ESPN.
