
Kelsey Mitchell Ties Season-High with 27 Points as Fever Head to All-Star Break

INDIANAPOLIS - In the third and final game of the regular-season series against the Chicago Sky, the Indiana Fever fell 93-84 at Indiana Farmers Coliseum on Thursday night. Chicago maintains its lead atop the league standings at 16-6, while the Fever head into the Al-Star break at 5-19 on the season.
Guard Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever in scoring with 27 points and five assists, which extends her league leading mark of games scoring at least 20 points to 15 this season. Rookie forward NaLyssa Smith recorded her sixth double-double of her career with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Smith and Mitchell became the second time this season the Fever had two 20-point scorers in the same game. Off the bench, guard Tiffany Mitchell contributed a season-high 15 points in 22 minutes.
The first quarter of the third regular season meeting between Indiana and Chicago was led by rookie Smith hitting five of the team's first six field goals on the way to 12 first-quarter points - the most in a quarter in her career. Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell would catch on in the second quarter, scoring 13 in the quarter. At halftime, Mitchell and Smith combined for 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting.
Entering the second half down 10, Indiana saw the Sky increase its lead more. Chicago forwards Candace Parker and Emma Meesseman combined for 17 of Chicago's 29 points in the third to grow the lead to 20 going into the final quarter.
Indiana did not go down quietly in the fourth quarter. Forcing six of Chicago's 17 turnovers in the quarter, Indiana trimmed the lead to eight - outscoring the Sky 27-16 in the fourth quarter.
For Chicago, Meesseman led the team with 20 points. Parker ended with 12 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Guard Allie Quigley had 13 points and four assists, while center Azurá Stevens put up 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Chicago committed 17 turnovers but out-rebounded Indiana 41-27.
