Aviators Shutout Crushers 3-0 to Even Series
June 10, 2015 - Frontier League (FL)
Rockford Aviators News Release
Tony Rizzotti pitched seven scoreless innings while Tanner Witt and Devon Rodriguez delivered run scoring hits to lead the Rockford Aviators (16-7) to a 3-0 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers (8-13) Wednesday night in Frontier League baseball action at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park, IL
Rizzotti (3-0) maintained his perfect ERA to start the season (0.00) and extended his consecutive innings streak without allowing an earned run to 31. The Aviators defense made some excellent plays to help preserve the streak, most notably outfielders Dusty Robinson in the fifth and Ja'Ron Shepherd in the seventh to prevent run-scoring hits from Juan Sanchez. Colby Holmes and Michael Schaub closed out the game for Rockford, with Schaub recording his 7th save with a perfect ninth. Witt's RBI single in the third proved to be the game winning hit, while Rodriguez added a two-run double in the sixth. Starter Brad Zambron (0-2) took the loss for Lake Erie.
The teams conclude their series Thursday night (6:35 pm) at Aviators Stadium before Rockford hosts the Frontier Greys in a weekend series at Loves Park. Call the Aviators Office at 815-885-2255 or go to rockfordaviators.com.
