Aviators come from behind to win
ROBSTOWN, TEXAS - The Coastal Bend Aviators came from behind at Fairgrounds Field once again, in front of a crowd of 2,151, to defeat the Fort Worth Cats 8-7.
Stephen Morales was the Offensive Player of the Game at the plate with a double, a single, and a run scored. Morales spearheaded the offensive charge in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, the veteran catcher laced a double down the left field line for a stand up double. The Aviators would then pound out three more hits along with a Fort Worth error en route to a five (5) run inning.
Defensively, Rodney Medina kept the Cats close to the bases all night. Fort Worth managed to get seventeen hits off of Aviator pitching, and scored only seven runs. Largely in part due to the respect of the strength that Medina possesses. Once runners reached second and third, they were faced with stop signs, as they dare not test the arm of the right fielder. Rodney could easily have doubled as the Offensive Player of the Game with a productive night at the plate. Medina was one for three at the plate, two runs scored, and three runs driven in.
Tomorrow the Aviators will be back in action at Fairgrounds Field for the rubber match game. Catch all the action on 1150 KCCT or ESPN 1230 KSIX (Check local listings). For ticketing information call 361-387-8585 or visit the ticket office when at the ballpark.
