Rockford Aviators News Release

Schaumburg, ILLINOIS - The Rockford Aviators completed the sweep of the Boomers Sunday, triumphing 7-2 behind a strong start from Kyle Hassna and another explosive performance from the offense. The sweep was the first for the Aviators since June 16-18 against Joliet.

The Aves got a run early by knocking around Boomer starter Peter Gehle for 3 hits in the 1st inning. Danny Stienstra drove home Michael Hur for the game's first run. It was Stienstra's 4th RBI in the last 2 games.

Kyle Hassna took to the hill as the Aviators starter and settled down after allowing a run in the 1st. The San Jose State product put up 5 consecutive scoreless innings after the first frame and finished with a final line of 7 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.

His offense built him a lead with a 4-run 4th. Brian Bistagne picked up an RBI base hit in the inning and Cody Lenahan drove in 2 with his first of 2 doubles in the contest. Bistagne would finish with 3 hits and 2 driven in in his second game back in the lineup. The middle infielder had been sidelined the previous 4 contests with back tightness.

Every hitter in the order for the Aviators reached base at least twice in the contest after everyone reached at least once in Game 2. The Aviators finished with at least 7 runs and at least 10 hits in every game of the series in Schaumburg. They have now scored 30 runs and have racked up 51 hits over their last 4 games.

The Aves enjoy an off day Monday before opening a 6-game homestand on Tuesday. Windy City will come to Loves Park starting the 28th and Normal will follow on the 31st. Tuesday will be HealthCare Appreciation Night, and Thursday will be $1 Draft Beer Night at Aviators Stadium.
