Los Angeles Avengers News Release
LOS ANGELES - Even though it is the off-season, Avenger players, coaches and "A-Team" dancers regularly visit schools, hospitals and community events.
This week, "A-Team" dancers Angela and Brittany spent the day visiting with the children at the Shriners Hospitals For Children - Los Angeles 8th Annual Child & Family Fair.
"Visiting with the children today puts everything into perspective for me," Angela said. "Giving back to the community is something I always enjoy doing."
At the hospital, the two "A-Team" dancers took the opportunity to visit the rooms of various patients throughout the hospital, sign autographs and took pictures with the patients.
The fair had over 50 organizations that provided dental screenings and blood pressure checks along with information about aging, affordable housing, asthma, arthritis, burn prevention, health care and nutrition. Additional information on child abuse, domestic violence prevention, consumer protection, disability rights, employment services, foster care, health insurance, literacy, mentoring, mental health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, traffic safety and voter registration.
Shriners Hospital for Children first opened in 1952 and during its history has assisted in providing life changing medical and surgical services to more than 36,000 children. All medical care has been and continues to be provided completely free of charge to children and their families.
