NEW YORK - Georgia Force DB CHRIS BROWN was the first player selected by the New Orleans VooDoo in the AFL's Expansion Draft conducted today. The VooDoo, who return to the AFL this season following a one-year hiatus due to Hurricane Katrina, selected 13 players from the 132 made available from the rosters of the League's 18 remaining teams and traded one other pick.

Brown, a rookie last season with Georgia, led the team and tied for second in the AFL with 124.0 total tackles. He also posted four interceptions, including three returned for touchdowns, which tied him for the League lead.

Other notables selected by the VooDoo include Utah FB/LB KEALA KEANAAINA (ninth round), a first-team All-Arena performer in 2003, and Chicago OL/DL TANGO MCCAULEY, who spent his rookie season as part of a line that was instrumental in protecting QB MATT D'ORAZIO en route to the Rush winning ArenaBowl XX.

The VooDoo also selected San Jose WR/DB RASHIED DAVIS, who was a 2004 All-Ironman selection and currently plays for the NFL's Chicago Bears.

New Orleans traded its 11th round pick to the Tampa Bay Storm for DB LANCE FRAZIER. Tampa Bay then selected Nashville DB REGGIE STEPHENS. Tampa Bay's selection of Stephens was subsequently voided pursuant to AFL Player Transfer Rules and he returned to Nashville's roster.

The Dallas Desperados, Nashville Kats, San Jose SaberCats and Utah Blaze lost the most players with two players apiece.
