Rush loses McCauley in expansion draft
October 6, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Chicago Rush News Release
The ArenaBowl XX champion Chicago Rush lost lineman Tango McCauley to the New Orleans VooDoo Friday when the VooDoo selected McCauley with the third pick in the Arena Football League's expansion draft.
The draft was held to help re-stock the roster of the VooDoo, which is returning to the AFL in 2007 after a one-year hiatus due to Hurricane Katrina.
McCauley (6-4, 305, Alabama State) played in 15 games during his rookie season with the Rush, playing mostly on offense at guard and center. On defense he recorded 2.5 tackles and one pass broken up.
Each AFL team was allowed to protect 16 players from the draft. All other players on each team's roster, however, were eligible to be drafted.
The Rush defeated the Orlando Predators 69-61 in June to capture the ArenaBowl XX title. The win capped an amazing playoff run in which the underdog Rush won three consecutive road games on its way to the championship game.
Season tickets for the 2007 season are on sale now. Thanks to Discover Card, Rush season ticket prices are remaining unchanged for the 2007 season.
