Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON â The Brockton Rox professional baseball team is placing a limited number of Grady Little bobble-arm dolls â personally signed by the former manager of the Boston Red Sox â for auction on eBay.
One doll a week for 16 weeks will be available. The first auction will begin this Sunday, Aug. 15, at 11:45 p.m. and will conclude Sunday, Aug. 22, at 11:44 p.m. The next auction will begin one minute later on Sunday, Aug. 22, at 11:45 p.m. and will conclude the following Sunday, Aug. 29, at 11:44 p.m. This pattern will continue for 16 weeks, with the final auction the week of Nov. 29.
The dolls are the same model the Rox previously had for sale. The addition of Grady Little's autograph across the shoulders of each doll makes these 16 dolls premium items.
All proceeds from the 16-week auction will go to the charity designated by Little â the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation (PBSF) â for which the Rox have already raised nearly $40,000 through previous sales of these dolls.
Since its debut last year, the PBSF has raised more than $285,000 (not including the sale of these dolls). The foundation assists scouts in need due to job loss, illness, retirement, or other financial setbacks. The PBSF was founded by Chicago White Sox executives Dennis Gilbert and Roland Hemond, and Major League Baseball scouts Dave Yoakum of the White Sox and Harry Minor of the New York Mets, all of whom felt compelled to establish PBSF, because, despite the fact that scouts primarily find the athletes that teams sign to lucrative deals, the average baseball scout's income is modest, often making healthcare and pensions nominal. Consequently, when hardships occur, scouts are extremely financially susceptible.
"I am very happy, through the sale of my autographed bobble-arm doll, to once again add my support to the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation," Little said.
To take part in the auction, visit www.ebay.com beginning Sunday at 11:45 p.m. Use key words "bobble-arm," "grady little," or "brockton rox."
