
Austin FC Signs 2021 MLS SuperDraft Presented by adidas First Round Selection Freddy Kleemann

Austin, Texas - Austin FC, the 27th club in Major League Soccer (MLS), announced today the signing of defender Freddy Kleemann, the Club's second draft pick (and 11th overall) in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas. Per League and Club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Kleemann joins midfielder Daniel Pereira, Austin's first pick (and first overall) in this year's MLS SuperDraft, on the Club's 2021 roster.

A senior at the University of Washington, Kleemann (pronounced "Klee-mun"), spent two (2) seasons with the Huskies (2018-19). Kleemann made nine (9) appearances in 2018 and 18 starts in 19 matches in 2019. Kleemann anchored Washington's defense in 2019 as the Huskies posted 12 shutouts during his junior year. The native of Newbury Park, Calif., scored one (1) goal and added one (1) assist during his collegiate tenure.
