Austin, TEXAS - Austin FC announced today the Club agreed to a new multi-year contract with goalkeeper Brad Stuver. The deal includes three (3) guaranteed years through the end of the 2025 season, with an option for the 2026 season.
"From the moment I stepped foot in Austin, I felt right at home with the team, community, and fans and I am looking forward to continuing my journey here," said Stuver. "I'm excited to come back next year and keep making history with my team and this city."
During the 2022 MLS season with Austin FC, Stuver played a total of 3,008 minutes across 34 appearances, all of which were starts. Stuver made 100 saves and saved 4 out of 12 penalty kicks faced between the regular season and playoffs, including two (2) saves in a shootout to help Austin defeat Real Salt Lake in the Club's first-ever MLS Cup Playoffs match. He tied for eighth in MLS in total saves, and second in the league in successful clearances with 33.
"Brad is an amazing asset to this team and community, and we are happy to have him with us for the next several years," said Sporting Director Claudio Reyna.
Stuver has been an exemplary community-engaged athlete throughout his time in Austin, and in 2022 became the first-ever MLS player to be named a nominee for the ESPN Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award at the ESPYs. Stuver was named a finalist for MLS Works Humanitarian of the Year in both 2021 and 2022 for his community-based advocacy and fundraising across the Central Texas region. Stuver is actively involved with Current Initiatives' The Laundry Project, an organization which holds events to provide free laundry services and materials to low-income families. Stuver has led eight (8) such events in just over a year since arriving in Central Texas, including one to provide relief for families in Uvalde, and organized multiple supply drives to collect donations.
Before joining the Verde & Black, Stuver played professionally with Columbus Crew and NYCFC. He played collegiate soccer at the Cleveland State University from 2009 to 2012.
