CEDAR PARK, Texas - Deshaun Thomas recorded a team-high 23 points and nine assists, and teammate Walter Tavares of the Atlanta Hawks posted 18 points as the Austin Spurs defeated the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 116-91 Thursday night at Cedar Park Center for Game 2 of the 2016 NBA D-League Western Conference Semi-Finals.

Six Austin players scored in double-figures in the winning effort; Thomas (23), Tavares (18), Keifer Sykes (17), Demetri McCamey (15), Brandon Fields (14) and Youssou Ndoye (10).

Jaron Johnson and Will Cummings paced RGV contributing 19 points each, while teammate Jarvis Threatt recorded 13 points.

Taking an early lead in the first quarter Austin led (8-4) with eight minutes remaining, but RGV tied the game at eight a minute later on a two-point basket by Amir Williams. Austin went on a 9-0 run with six minutes remaining to regain momentum 19-12 with under three minutes remaining. They finished the quarter leading 28-16.

Austin maintained their energy in the second quarter outscoring RGV 14-6 in the first five minutes and continuing their momentum through halftime. They led at the half 61-43. Thomas led Austin with 11 points, while Johnson led RGV with nine points in the half. RGV shot 29 percent (4-of-14) from three-point range in the half, while Austin connected on 63 percent on their three-point shots (5-of-8).

RGV began the second half scoring nine of the first 13 points in the quarter, before going on a 7-2 run with seven minutes remaining to pull within six. Cummings recorded five of the seven RGV points during the three-minute stretch. Despite RGV's run, Austin finished the quarter leading 90-71.

Austin maintained their lead through the fourth and finished the game 116-91.
