
Augusta Wins Second Straight on Road Trip

Rome, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (22-17) rallied back against the Rome Braves (13-25) Tuesday night for a 2-1 win. Andrew De La Garza recorded the win in relief and Shane Jordan drove in the go ahead run in the eighth inning.
With the score tied 1-1 in the eighth inning Charlie Culberson began the inning with a base hit then moved to second on a wild pitch. Ramon Corona sacrificed Culberson over to third base then Jordan followed with an RBI sac-fly to right-field for a 2-1 Augusta lead.
De La Garza (3-0) worked two shutout innings and allowed one hit, no walks and struck out one.
Daniel Otero pitched a perfect ninth inning for his ninth save of the season.
The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on an RBI base hit from Jon Gilmore off of reliever Waldis Joaquin scoring Adam Coe.
Augusta rallied back to tie the game at 1-1 in the fifth inning when Brock Bond scored and a ground out from Culberson.
The GreenJackets and Braves continue their series Wednesday morning with Augusta sending lefty Craig Clark (2-0, 3.03) to the mound. The Braves counter with left-hander Eric Barrett (1-3, 2.31). First pitch is at 10:30 a.m.
Game Notes:
The GreenJackets improved to 12-5 on the road this season.
Augusta has won six straight games against the Braves
It was the fourth game this season against Rome that ended with a 2-1 Augusta win.
Culberson has hit safely in six straight games.
Augusta starter T.J. Brewer departed the game in the second inning with two outs after taking a line drive off of his right arm.
Waldis Joaquin pitched 2.1 innings in relief of Brewer and allowed one run on two hits.
Dan Runzler worked two shutout innings for Augusta.
