Augusta Wins Another Close One

Rome, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets defeated the Rome Braves Tuesday night in front of 2,839 fans by a final score of 2-1. The GreenJackets lead the series 2-0.

The Braves took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Adam Coe scored on a Jon Gilmore single to make the score 1-0. Augusta would answer immediately in the top of the fifth when Brock Bond scored on a Charlie Culberson ground out RBI to even the score 1-1. The GreenJackets would take the lead for good in the eighth inning when Charlie Culberson scored on a Shane Jordan sacrifice fly to make the score 2-1.

Andrew De La Garza gets the win (3-0) and Daniel Otero records the save (9) for the GreenJackets. Michael Broadway gets the loss (0-2) for the Braves. Scott Diamond pitched well for the Braves going seven innings giving up only two hits and no earned runs while striking out six batters.

Roster Move: Rome has placed CJ Lee on the disabled list with a broken orbital bone. The Braves receive Stephen Shults from the Danville roster. Last season Shults hit .271 with the Danville Braves with six home runs and 25 RBI.
