Owen Sound Attack News Release
Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that forward Marcus Carroll of the Owen Sound Attack is the Boston Pizza OHL Player of the Week for the week ending November 1. In three games played, Carroll led the Attack to three wins and also led the league in scoring with 10 points including three goals and seven assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.
Carroll's week combined both personal and franchise records for the Attack. For the first time in his career he recorded a four-point game on Friday night in a 6-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers. He opened the scoring on the power play at 2:10 of the first period and later added three assists as first star of the game. Carroll repeated the feat one night later again scoring one goal and three assists Saturday in a 4-1 win over the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors. He was named second star of the game, the 264th of his career, tying an Attack franchise record for career games played. The mark ties Willie Skilliter who played in 264 games as an Owen Sound Plater from 1991-95. Earlier in the week on Thursday, Carroll scored a goal and an assist in a 5-4 shootout win over the Windsor Spitfires.
Carroll, a 20-year-old from Ajax, ON, is playing in his fifth OHL season with the Attack. Through 19 games this season he has 12 goals and seven assists for 19 points. He has been named the Attack's Howard Hindman Award Winner the last two seasons for providing the Largest Contribution to the Owen Sound Community.
For the second straight week Taylor Beck of the Guelph Storm receives honourable mention for the award. In three games this week he scored two goals and six assists for eight points. Also considered for the award is a pair of Kitchener Rangers, forward Chris MacKinnon and goaltender Mavric Parks. MacKinnon tallied three goals and five assists for eight points in three games, while Parks won two games posting one shutout with a goals-against-average of 0.500 and save percentage of.985.
