Ottawa 67's News Release
Today was a very special day here at the Urbandale Center. Over 9,000 kids from schools across the city packed the arena to watch a great game between our Ottawa 67's and the visiting Peterborough Petes.
Our 67's jumped out to an early lead thanks to a goal by assistant captain Thomas Nesbitt. From that point on it was an exciting back and forth games as both teams tried to come away with the win. The Petes looked like they would come out on top until Ryan Martindale scored with under 6 seconds left to force overtime.
After a scoreless overtime period Ryan Spooner sealed the win for the Petes in the shootout. This didn't put a damper on our fans spirits though as they could still be heard buzzing about the game long after the final whistle.
The pre-game had a fantastic atmosphere surrounding it. The team decided to try something new and let the fans sing the national anthem. This worked out great as old and young alike belted out Oh Canada along to the music. It was a great moment watching the kids show such national pride before the game got under way.
The intermissions were also a lot of fun as there was a rink wide rendition of the Macarena led by our lovely and talented SixO Power Dancers, along with a giant game of rock, paper, scissors that included the whole crowd! All in all it was a fantastic day to be up in the stands.
We would like to thank everybody who made it out to the game this morning. Hopefully you can all join us again Friday November 13th when we take on the Sarnia Sting right here at the Urbandale Center.
Look out for us as we will be writing from the stands each and every home game!
