Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack are set for a busy weekend ahead, as they prepare to add to the team's future at the 2021 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore. The two-day event, June 4-5, will see teams select players in rounds one through three on Friday night starting at 7 p.m., then resuming at 10 a.m. on Saturday for rounds four through 15. The Attack currently hold the rights to 12 selections over the 15-round event, including the eighth overall pick in the first round.
The Attack will look to add more players that will gel with the organization's identity of being fast, skilled and hard to play against. This will be the common theme among the players chosen this weekend. "Looking at the draft and knowing that we've had limited views on the players this year. We have been speaking with coaches', agents and the players themselves to try and find players that fit the mould we are so used to bringing to Owen Sound" said Attack General Manager, Dale DeGray. "This year has definitely been a little more challenging than other years trying to compare one player to the next, but I believe our staff has done a great job of identifying the players we would like to bring in." The Attack have made the eighth selection six times including current Attack Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manger Joey Hishon in 2007. In recent years, Owen Sound has taken Aidan Dudas (10th - 2016), Mitchell Russell (20th - 2017), Nolan Seed (15th - 2018), Deni Goure (10th - 2019) and Cedrick Guindon (10th - 2020).
Although the Attack do not hold a second-round pick for Friday night, they do hold two early to mid-third round picks (42nd and 47th) that will allow the team to add two more quality players before the first day is over. On Saturday, the bears will make their first pick of day two in the fifth round when they pick 84th and 87th. To close out the draft the Attack will make selections in all remaining rounds except the eighth, 11th and 14th.
