Owen Sound Attack News Release
Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced the week six edition of the Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2019-20 season. The weekly rankings of the CHL's Top-10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.
After a pair of losses, the Oshawa Generals were unseated as the top team in the CHL, giving way to the QMJHL's Sherbrooke Phoenix.
The Generals fell to the Sarnia Sting by a score of 9-5 on Friday, handing the Sting their first win of the season before losing at home on Sunday to the rival Peterborough Petes by a score of 2-1. Oshawa is the second-ranked team in the country, looking for a bounce-back weekend with a three-in-three that includes a trip to Mississauga on Friday before a home-and-home with Hamilton on Saturday and Sunday.
The Owen Sound Attack are up two spots to number six on the list after stretching their current winning streak to five games with a 4-1 triumph over the Sudbury Wolves on Saturday. The Bears have spread out the scoring this season, getting contributions from Aidan Dudas, Sergey Popov, Barret Kirwin and rookie Ethan Burroughs prominently up front while overage rearguard Brady Lyle has 12 points (2-10--12) over 10 contests.
The Peterborough Petes are back into the top-10 after defeating a trio of divisional foes in Hamilton, Ottawa and Oshawa last weekend. Minnesota Wild prospect Hunter Jones backstopped the Petes to all three wins, earning OHL 'On the Run' Player of the Week recognition while blueliner Declan Chisholm extended his current point streak to 11 games and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Nick Robertson pushed his season point total to 20 (12-8--20).
The Flint Firebirds remain an honourable mention this week after rebounding from a Thursday night loss to Windsor to defeat Flint and North Bay on Friday and Saturday.
