Attack Look to Tie Series at One Game Each

May 5, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

For the first time in the 2011 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs, the Attack are heading into game two trying to even the series at one game each. The Attack dropped the first game of the Rogers OHL Championship Series in Mississauga on Tuesday night by a score of 5-2 (EN) in front of 2500 at the Hershey Centre.

The Attack got the start they were looking for, leaving the ice surface at the end of the first period tied 1-1 while controlling much of the play, but a lackluster effort in the second period dug the Attack a hole they were just unable to crawl out of. The Majors scored three times in the second, taking a commanding 4-1 lead. Robby Mignardi was able to notch his second of the game in the third to bring the Attack within two goals, but it wasn't enough as they Majors skated off with a 5-2 win after adding an empty net goal.

"We're not going to get away with playing a partial game against these guys (the majors). We have to play a complete game and bring more of an effort like we did in the first and third periods", stated Attack Captain Garrett Wilson.

The Attack are 8-0 on home soil during the 2011 OHL Playoffs and will look to home ice advantage this evening to even up the series in what will no doubt be a raucous crowd at the Bayshore. Standing room is available by walkup at the Owen Sound Attack Box Office.

Game time this evening at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre is 7:05pm.
