Owen Sound Attack News Release
The last long road trip of the year for the Owen Sound Attack kicks off on Thursday, Mar. 3 and will see the Bears work their way through most of the OHL's Central Division.
Playing three games in three nights, the Attack will make stops in North Bay, Sudbury, and Barrie before returning home.
To kick off the trip, the Attack and North Bay Battalion will renew acquaintances when they clash on Thursday night in the final duel between the sides on the year.
The last matchup between the Attack (28-21-7-3, 6th Western Conference) and Battalion (31-19-5-4, 3rd Eastern Conference) saw Owen Sound down North Bay 4-2 at the Bayshore on Dec. 29.
Petrus Palmu, fresh off of a thrilling four goal performance against the Niagara IceDogs, led the way for Owen Sound in their last meeting with the Battalion, scoring twice in the win.
The Finnish import has been a big catalyst on the offensive side of the puck for the Attack lately, and has rebounded nicely after missing the entire month of November due to injury.
Palmu now has 19 goals and 21 assists on the year, good for 40 points in just 43 games played. A standout rookie for the Attack in 2014-15, the diminutive sniper is just two points shy of his career high that he set in last year's campaign.
North Bay is led by captain Mike Amadio, whose 43 goals and 43 assists have him in 7th in the league scoring race. Like Owen Sound, the Battalion won their last contest; a 6-1 decision over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Attack will then head to Sudbury to square off with the Eastern Conference's last place Wolves. The only other meeting this year saw Owen Sound take a 5-3 decision at the Bayshore on Dec. 12.
Sudbury is led into action by import Mikkel Aagaard who has 23 goals and 25 assists in 56 games this year. Also helping power Sudbury's offence is 2015 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection 1st overall pick, Alan Lyszczarczyk. The rookie forward is just three points behind Aagaard in team scoring and has contributed 14 goals and 31 helpers on the season.
Like Thursday night's meeting, the Attack and Wolves will face off at 7:00pm before Owen Sound wraps up their weekend with a 7:30pm contest on Saturday night in Barrie.
Saturday's action will see the Attack and Colts face off for the 5th time this year. Barrie has had the upper hand in the season series, winning all four games in regulation, including a 5-0 decision on Feb. 10 in the last tilt between the sides.
Fans can catch all of the Attack's action on the road live by listening to Kia of Owen Sound Terry's Trailer Service Bear Radio on 560 CFOS or by watching on Rogers Local 53.
Owen Sound's next home game is slated for Wednesday, Mar. 9 against the Barrie Colts and is scheduled for 7:00pm. Tickets for that game, as well as the 2016 Ontario Hockey League Playoffs, are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office or by calling 519-371-7452.
The Weekend Preview is presented by Joe Tomato's, located next to the Galaxy Cinemas on the Sunset Strip. Redeem your ticket stub at Joe Tomato's following every Attack home game to receive half priced wings and appetizers.
