November 11, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack were back in action this afternoon for this second match up with Erie on this weekends doubleheader. The Bears took down the Otters 4-0 last night at the Bayshore, and Erie came back wanting revenge, but Owen Sound was ready for it.

The first period began with Aidan Dudas heading to the penalty box for hooking 37 seconds in, sending Erie on an early powerplay. Zach Roberts, coming back from an injury that held him out for the first two months, found a breakaway early in the first but was unable to convert.

Carter Robertson lands his first goal of the season as he puts the puck past Erie netminder Daniel Murphy early in the first. Robertson's goal was assisted by Maksim Sushko and Nick Suzuki. This assist puts Nick up to 3rd All Time in Owen Sound for points, bypassing Jim Brown who held the record from the 1990-1993 season.

Mark McDade shots on goal at the end of one were 19-8, in favour of the Attack.

The second began with a big chance for Pearson but Murphy says no. Some 4-on-4 hockey action was seen in the beginning of the second when Trent Bourque and Otter's Emmett Sproule both headed to the box. Before the 4-on-4 was finished, Petr Cajka headed to the box to send the Attack to their first powerplay of the game.

Erie landed another penalty and the Attack stayed on the powerplay for another two minutes. The Attack's top line was out on the powerplay and Nick Suzuki sent a beauty pass over to Kevin Hancock who buried the puck for his 15th goal of the season.

The Attack are caught with too many men on the ice and Bryce Caruk served the penalty. Erie was off to another powerplay and kept the pressure on in front of Owen Sound's net. Igor Chibrikov got caught cross checking and sent Erie to the two-man advantage.

Sushko had a shorthanded breakaway but Murphy was too quick for him. Otter's penalty sent the game to 4-on-4 hockey once again. Nick Suzuki landed his 16th goal of the season during 4-on-4, assisted by Aidan Dudas and Maksim Sushko. Attack led 3-0.

Mark McDade shots on goal at the end of two were 17-4, in favour of the Attack.

The third period began with a little more momentum from Erie and early on, Carter Robertson headed to the box for cross checking to send the Otters on another powerplay. The third period was full of penalties and both Aidan Dudas and Otters Maxim Golod were sent to the box early in the period.

On the Attack powerplay, Hancock finds the back of the net thanks to an assist from Dudas and Sushko to bring the Bears up 4-0 early in the third.

With just under 8 minutes left in the game, Petr Cajka snuck a goal past Guzda to get the Otters on the board. He wasn't done there and scored another with just over two minutes left to bring the score to 4-2.

A late penalty to Erie puts the Attack on the powerplay for the last 52 seconds of the game.

Owen Sound's Nick Suzuki earned first star honours with one goal and two assists on the night, while his assistant captain Kevin Hancock earned the second star with 2 goals. Owen Sound forward Maksim Sushko earned third star honours with three assists on the game. Attack netminder Mack Guzda stopped 20 shots in the game.

Brady Lyle and Markus Phillips both won the Hatten Home Hardware Hardest Working Player of the Game, voted by the fans.

At the end of three, Mark McDade shots on goal were 49-22, in favour of the Attack.

The Owen Sound Attack are back in action on Wednesday night at home, when they take on the Sarnia Sting for their third match up of the season. The game is a 7PM puck drop at the Harry Lumley Bayshore.
