Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack will return to action from the Christmas holidays when they take on the Barrie Colts on Monday, Dec. 29 at 7:30 pm.

The Attack (15-9-2-6) are currently on a six game point streak, having picked up nine of a possible 12 points in their last six games. Barrie will enter Monday night's game having already resumed their post Christmas schedule, with a game against the Guelph Storm on Sunday, Dec. 28.

Owen Sound will see defenceman Damir Sharipzyanov return the lineup after he was released from Team Russia's World Junior Camp on Dec. 24.

In one previous meeting earlier this year, the Attack easily did away with the Colts, beating them 6-1 at the Bayshore on Oct. 22. As of Friday, Dec. 26, the Colts (18-12-1-1) are in 2nd place in the Central division with 38 points and have three scorers inside the league's top 11 point getters.

Joseph Blandisi leads Barrie with 21 goals and 54 points on the year while the Attack see their offence paced by Kyle Platzer, who has a career high 45 points in 32 games on the season. Also adding to the Owen Sound firepower are Zach Nastasiuk (38 points in 32 games) and Chris Bigras, who is in 2nd in defensive scoring with 35 points while leading all rearguards with 12 goals.

Forward Holden Cook is still rehabbing his upper body injury, however; progress is being made and the overager is inching his way closer to the lineup. Goaltender Michael McNiven will also return to the Attack lineup after sitting out the two game prior to Christmas with the flu.

The Attack will return to action at home on Thursday, Jan. 1 when they host the Kitchener Rangers at 2:00 pm.

Tickets for that game and all Attack home games are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

This season of Attack Hockey is brought to you by Caframo.
