Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack headed back home tonight to host long-time rivals, the London Knights. The Bears met London for the second time this season, but this time were on home ice. They were looking for revenge from their 4-1 loss last week at Budweiser Gardens, and they sure got it.

Early into the first period, London Knights Riley Coome landed a penalty for hooking at 1:29m sending the Attack to their first powerplay of the game. Knights killed the penalty and we were back to even strength hockey.

The Knights landed another penalty as Gerald Keane headed to the box for slashing at 6:25 and the Attack were on the second powerplay early in the first.

Rookie right winger Kaleb Pearson wasted no time and found the back of the net, sneaking the puck past Knights netminder Jordan Kooy to land his first Ontario Hockey League goal at 7:34 into the game. Pearson's goal was assisted by Nick Suzuki.

Keane was called for slashing once again at 12:08 and sent the Attack to another powerplay, but London held on and the score remained 1-0.

With less than 30 seconds left in the game, Aidan Dudas was sent to the box for slashing at 19:29, sending London to their first powerplay of the game. The Bears killed the first 31 seconds of the penalty before the buzzer went and the first period ended.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal for the Attack sat at 16, and 5 for the Knights.

Period two started out with Dudas in the box for the remaining 1:29 left in his penalty. The Bears were able to kill the penalty.

Almost right after Dudas gets out of the box, London's Matthew Timms drew a penalty for tripping and the Attack headed to another powerplay at 1:49 into the second.

Billy Moskal of the Knights puts a big slash on Suzuki who loses his stick, and he's called for slashing at 3:20, sending the Attack to a brief 5-3 and then an 89 second powerplay.

We saw a multitude of penalties in the first half of the second period when Owen Sound's Manuel Alberg was sent to the box at 5:51 for interference. Just over a minute later, Maksim Sushko landed a penalty for tripping at 7:16, sending London to the 5 on 3 advantage.

At 7:59, Cole Tymkin and Trenton Bourque were both send to the box for slashing. Griffin Wilson landed a penalty for hooking at 11:36.

Although there was over 5 minutes of penalties, we did not see any scoring on the powerplays in the second period.

Aidan Dudas however finds the back of the net with a beauty snipe at 18:01. The play was assisted by Trent Bourque and Igor Chibrikov to bring the score to 2-0 to end the period.

Mark McDade Chestnut Park shots on goal in period two were 9 for both Owen Sound and London.

The third period started out with a penalty for London as Billy Moskal got sent to the box at 52 seconds in for cross checking. Attack headed to the powerplay and maintained control but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net.

London got on the board early in the third when Antonio Stranges found the back of the net at 5:09. Stranges play was assisted by Matvey Guskov and Josh Nelson, sending the score to 2-1.

Rookie defenceman Nolan Seed takes a shot from the blue line and sends the puck past Knights netminder Jordan Kooy at 7:24, and the Attack take a 3-1 lead in the game. The play was assisted by Sean Durzi and Daylon Groulx.

Hancock got a breakaway 12 minutes into the third but was unable to finish the play.

London headed to the powerplay as Dudas landed a penalty for high sticking at 12:26. Owen Sound held the Knights off and killed the penalty, leaving 5:30 left in the game.

Just when Owen Sound fans were feeling pretty confident in a win, Knight's Nathan Dunkley snuck the puck past netminder Andrew MacLean at 17:02 to bring the score to 3-2 with three minutes left in play. Dunkley's goal was assisted by Adam Boqvist.

The Knights pull their goalie and Aidan Dudas finds the back of the net for his second goal of the game and fifth of the season. Dudas' goal was assisted by Hancock and Robinson.

With 31 seconds left of play, London's William Lochead got a multitude of penalties after a tussle with Trent Bourque. Lochead received a 2 minute minor for instigating, 5 minutes for fighting and a 10 minute misconduct.

Trent Bourque also received 5 minutes for fighting at 19:29. Play ended and the final score remained 4-3 Attack.
