Spirit Welcome North Bay Battalion to Saginaw for Star Wars Night

Saginaw, Michigan - The Saginaw Spirit (4-2-1-0 9 pts.) return home The Dow Event Center on Friday evening to take on the North Bay Battalion (3-5-0-0 6 pts.) for Star Wars Night. Fans can see some of their favorite Star Wars characters while cheering on the Spirit in their first of five home games in the month of October.

Saginaw is coming off an undefeated three-game road trip. The Spirit started the trip with a 6-2 victory against the rival Flint Firebirds. Saginaw's Nicholas Porco scored two goals including the game winner in the game and was named one of OHL's Three Stars of the Night in the effort. Stand out Saginaw defenseman Bode Wilde produced his first OHL goal in the game. Wilde, a New York Islander draft pick, is second in league scoring among defenseman.

Saginaw then traveled to Kitchener to face the then No. 10 ranked Kitchener Rangers. The Spirit again received a great effort from Bode Wilde with a goal and an assist in the game. Albert Michnac scored the game winning goal with an incredible individual effort to give the Spirit the 4-3 overtime victory.

The Spirit finished the trip in Erie, Pennsylvania against the Erie Otters. Nicholas Porco added two more goals in the game to give him a team-leading seven on the season. The game was tied in the third period when, Minnesota Wild prospect Damien Giroux, scored the game winning goal to give Saginaw the 4-3 victory, completing the unbeaten trip.

Saginaw played two games against North Bay last season winning one and losing one in overtime. New York Islanders prospect Blade Jenkins scored a hat-trick against the Battalion during the November 4 victory last season. Jenkins has started strong this season with seven points in six games.

Saturday's game against the Battalion starts at 7:05 pm at the Dow Event Center. The Spirit host the Kitchener Rangers Sunday, October 14 at 5:30 pm.
