Owen Sound Attack News Release
OWEN SOUND, ON - September 14, 2012 - Local First Nations communities will be getting up close to the Ontario Hockey League action as part of a new partnership between Bruce Power and the Owen Sound Attack.
"Bruce Power is proud to be a major sponsor of the Attack for the 2012-13 season as they drive towards another Ontario Hockey League title," said Duncan Hawthorne, President and CEO. "In addition to our work with the Right to Play organization, this agreement provides us with another opportunity to promote healthy living to and provide fun for the children of the Saugeen and Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation communities."
As part of the partnership, Attack players will sign autographs for children of the First Nations communities and then face off against the children in a spirited game of road hockey. The team will also hold two community nights this season, providing tickets to First Nations kids who may not have the chance to attend a game otherwise. A lucky fan from each community will be also chosen to drop the ceremonial first puck, as well.
"Our First Nations communities are an integral part of our area and its history," said Brent Fisher, Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the Attack. "We are extremely proud to have Bruce Power as a major sponsor and to be partnering with them to benefit the children of our local First Nations communities."
The Attack's season opens Sept. 20 in Windsor, with the home opener taking place Saturday, Sept. 22, vs. the Saginaw Spirit.
