Becker Shoes Attacker of the Week Marcus Carroll scored at 12:52 of the second period to tie the game at 1. Then there was no goal scored until the shootout. It was the fourth shooter for the Attack, Wayne Simmonds that scored the game winner to give Owen Sound a hard fought 2-1 shootout victory over the visiting Guelph Storm.
Anthony Guadagnolo stopped 25 of 26 shots and 3 of 4 shots in the shootout for his 14th win of the season.
With the victory the Attack now has 50 points with a record of 22 wins, 18 losses, 3 overtime losses, and 3 shootout losses. They remain 4th in the Midwest Division and tied for 7th in the Western Conference with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.
Next game for the Attack is Sunday afternoon (January 21) at 2pm when they host World Junior gold medalists Tom Pyatt and Ryan O'Marra and the Saginaw Spirit. The Spirit sits 5th in the Western Conference with 56 points. The game is sponsored by the Special Olympics with the box office opening at 10am Sunday morning.
