Atlanta holds a 3-2-0 all-time record against Liga MX teams: 3-0-0 at home, 0-2-0 on the road. Atlanta dropped first leg matches of the Concacaf Champions League at Monterrey and Club América in 2019 and 2020 before winning the return legs in Atlanta, falling on aggregate at the quarterfinal stage in each tournament. Atlanta defeated Club América in the 2019 Campeones Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, becoming the first MLS team to win the competition.
In the 2022 Liga MX Clausura campaign, Pachuca earned the top seed with a 12-3-2 record (38 points). In the playoffs, it defeated San Luis (5-4 aggregate) in the quarterfinals, then took down Club America (4-1 aggregate) in the semifinals. In the final, the team fell to Atlas 3-2 on aggregate to finish runner-up.
Pachuca is a six-time Liga MX champion. The club has been crowned champions of Concacaf five times, winning the Concacaf Champions League in 2017 and 2010, while also winning its previous iteration, the Champions' Cup, in 2008, 2007 and 2002. Pachuca also won the 2006 Copa Sudamericana, the international competition inviting the best teams from Concacaf and Conmebol.
Brad Guzan will make his broadcasting debut, joining Kevin Egan and Jillian Sakovits as an analyst on Bally Sports Southeast.
