Atlanta United 2 Signs Abdoulaye Diop

ATLANTA - Atlanta United 2 today announced it has signed midfielder Abdoulaye Diop, pending league and federation approval.

"Abdoulaye is a dynamic player who is going to add undoubted quality to our midfield," said ATL UTD 2 head coach Stephen Glass. "His willingness to put in the work defensively along with his ability to join the attack will strengthen the core of our squad. Our staff has been tracking him since he was in high school, and we are happy to have join the club."

Diop, 20, was born in Dakar, Senegal and moved to the United States when he was 13 years old. He attended Montverde Academy in Florida and played collegiately at Eastern Florida State College. In his 2019 freshman season, Diop made 17 appearances, all starts, and scored four goals while adding four assists. He helped lead the Titans to a 16-2-2 record and appearances in the Southeast District Final and NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship Final.

Prior to attending Eastern Florida State, Diop played for Detroit City FC during the 2019 NPSL season where he made 14 appearances and scored one goal.
